We are seeking a full-time Senior Bioinformatician to work on one of the world’s biggest prospective epidemiological studies, the China Kadoorie Biobank Study (CKB, www.ckbiobank.org). You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) which contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching.
  • As Senior Bioinformatician you will contribute to integrated analyses of different genomic, metabolomic, proteomic, biomarker, environmental and phenotype data for the China Kadoorie Biobank. This post represents an exciting opportunity to conduct and develop research at the forefront of bioinformatics, epidemiology and statistical genetics, contributing to the prediction, prevention and better understanding of disease causation, using one of the largest population datasets currently available.
  • To be considered for the role, you will have a good higher degree (PhD or equivalent experience) in either bioinformatics/statistical genetics or computer science. Additionally you will require considerable programming experience (e.g. Linux, Perl, Python) and knowledge of human genetics, metabolomics and proteomics. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and a track record of relevant peer reviewed publications are also essential for his role.
