Where to store this huge volume of data? Into DNA: Nick Goldman

Nick Goldman - English scientist - Where to store this huge volume of data? Into DNA

British scientist Nick Goldman graduated from Cambridge University and is employed in the European Bioinformatics Institute EBI in Hinxton. At the beginning of the year, a group working under his leadership published a new, significantly more advanced way to store data in synthetic DNA in the Nature journal. Tentatively they encode all 154 Shakespeare's sonnets in it. DNA acts as a natural memory disk, where the genetic information translated into chemical language are permanently stored. Among the encoded files there was the recording of Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech, known as "I have a dream." Nick Goldman will share his own dream with us at TEDxPrague 2013.

Nick Goldman - Anglický vědec - Kam uložit to obrovské množství dat? Do DNA.

Britský vědec Nick Goldman absolvoval univerzitu v Cambridge a působí v Evropském institutu bioinformatiky EBI v Hinxtonu.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
