15 PhD positions @ MICROWINE

MICROWINE is currently recruiting for ESR posts.

Applications are invited for 15 PhD positions (“Early Stage Researchers”) to be funded by the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network “MICROWINE-Microbial Metagenomics and the Modern Wine Industry”, a multidisciplinary study on Viticulture and Wine Microbiology within the Horizon2020 programme of the European Union. Each PhD position is fully funded for 3 years. The positions are based at 13 institutions, in 8 countries, and cover a wide range of disciplines including microbial metagenomics, wine genetics, bioinformatics, geology, chemistry and mathematical modeling. ESR’s must commence no later than 1st September 2015.

  • If you are interesting in applying, view our list of ESR projects and use the form below to submit an application before April 13th, 2015.

The application file should include:

  1. A short cover letter (in English) stating briefly which fellowship(s) you would like to apply for, and listing the names of 2 references. Although reference letters are NOT required at time of application, applicants are welcome to provide them.
  2. A 500-1000 word text (in English) detailing both your motivation for applying, and why you would like to apply for the project(s) chosen.
  3. A full CV (in English) listing contact details, education experience, other relevant skills, any publications
  4. Proof of educations and scans of University grade transcripts. Please note that at time of applying these do not need to be converted to international marking schemes, although this may be asked for later.
  5. For those applicants for whom English is not a native language, or applying from a country where English is NOT an official language of the country or common in the further education system, proof of English proficiency (both oral, written and reading) is required. If you are unsure whether to provide this documentation, but feel it is not necessary, please mention why in the cover letter.

Should you be chosen for a position, local rules at different institutions may require you to re-post your application to the targeted PhD schools. In this case case you will be asked to do so by the supervisor in charge.

  • NOTE: Researchers must adhere to the Mobility Rule: The researcher (applicant) must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
