Job title:Interdisciplinary PhD in Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, and Immunology (SIB - group M. Delorenzi, CHUV group D. Zehn)
We consider applications for an interdisciplinary PhD in the area of systems biology and bridging bioinformatics, transcriptional networks identification and molecular regulation of immune responses during acute and chronic infections.

Specifically the projects involves:

  1. Analysis of molecular data (mRNA and or NGS)
  2. Building co-expression networks, identification of hub genes, and key transcription factors
  3. In vivo validation of identified candidate genes

Welcome to the University of Lausanne

Application deadline mid December 2014 (earlier=better)
Job reference BCF-JobAd-Sept2014-PHDimm
Initial Duration Open

The project will be performed in close collaboration between the bio-informatics laboratory of M. Delorenzi and the immunology oriented laboratory of D. Zehn. The project aims to unravel and verify the molecular mechanisms underlying T cell dysfunction in chronic infections and the failure of the immune systems to clear certain pathogens. Comprehensive training in bio-informatics analysis will be provided and sophisticated state of the art techniques will be used to in vivo investigate the function of candidate molecules in immune effector cells in models of infection. Candidates will join the PhD program “Cancer and Immunology” of the University of Lausanne and the SIB PHD training network (http://www.isb-sib.ch/training/sib-phd-training-network.html).
