Level B/C (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer) in Bioinformatics

One continuing full-time position is available.
The successful candidate will:
  • Have a PhD in a relevant discipline (biology, physics, mathematics, statistics, chemistry or computer sciences)
  • Develop and lead a research program in bioinformatics and genomic data analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in database development
  • Demonstrated interest in synthetic biology
  • Develop internal and external collaborations
  • Demonstrated ability to program in one or more relevant computer languages (such as Pearl, Python, R, C++)
  • Apply for and attract external funds
  • Strive for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and postgraduate level (postgraduate course-work or supervision)
  • Contribute to the full range of departmental activities

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Level B) Essential Selection Criteria relative to opportunity:

  • Proven record in developing and delivering teaching excellence

Research Fellow (Level B) Essential Selection Criteria relative to opportunity:

  1. A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Synthetic Biology or Molecular Genetics)
  2. Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques. Experience in bioinformatics will be highly regarded
  3. Demonstrated skills in trouble shooting and optimising molecular techniques. In particular PCR, qPCR,RFLP, pulsed
  4. field electrophoresis, cloning and the manipulation of large DNA fragments.
  5. Experience with molecular manipulation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
  6. Experience in writing applications for external grant funding and fellowships
  7. Track record in building collaborations within and outside a university environment

Salary Package:

Level B (Lecturer): Base Salary from $88,741 to $104,996 per annum plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
Level C (Senior Lecturer): Base Salary from $108,354 – $124,607 per annum plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
