Summary
The Foster City site of a large Biotechnology company is in need of an experienced, productive and enthusiastic software QA engineer with an understanding of bioinformatics The position will be part of a dedicated team of scientists and engineers working on sequencing technology. This full-time position is based in our Foster City office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop test plan and test cases for complex software system, including instrument control software, data analysis software, data management software and algorithm software components.
- Perform manual testing on instrument, web application.
- Perform build deployment.
- Provide guidance to off shore testing team.
- BS or higher in Biomedical engineering, Bioinformatics or related fields.
- Must have a can-do attitude, excited about working in a fast paced environment, must be a self starter
- Solid knowledge of next gen sequencing, solid experience in common bioinformatics tools
- Solid experience with at least one programming/scripting language.
- 2+ years of experience working on bioinformatics projects
- Understanding of mathematical concepts, working knowledge of data analysis
- Solid experience with Unix/Linux
- Understanding of software testing principles, tool sets, understanding of data analysis principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with defect tracking tools, source control tools and document tracking tools.
- Understand SW development processes/life cycle and SW Architecture
- Knowledge of web development/architecture
- Experience of software testing under QSR a plus
- Experience working with offshore team a plus
